Eligibility Criteria for Admission to PhD in Medical Innovations
The student receives a stipend for assisting in teaching (labs, tutorials, grading, etc.).
The student is funded through a research project and works on that project during the PhD.
The student funds their own studies without institute financial support.
The candidate is already working as project staff (e.g., Project Assistant / Project Associate / Research Engineer) in a funded project at the institute and registers for the PhD while continuing that project role.
Qualifying Degrees for Admission
M.Tech./M.E / MDes (Science background)/ MPharm or equivalent degree
Biotechnology, Biomedical, Chemical, CS/Engineering, EE, Electronics/Telecommunications, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Metallurgical & Material Science, Engineering Physics, Optics/Optoelectronics/Photonics, Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, Data Science & AI, Engineering Sciences.
MBBS with MD/MS, MVSc, MDS, MPTh, MOTh, MS/MD Health sciences AYUSH
Clinical specializations and allied health sciences.
B.Tech./B.E/BDes (Science background or equivalent degree in same engineering disciplines as above)
Engineering and technology disciplines similar to Category A.
M.Sc. or 5-year Integrated B.S.-M.S. program or equivalent degree
Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Ceramics, Chemistry, Electronics, Ergonomics, Material Science, Mathematics, Molecular Biology, Physics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Physiology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Photonics/Optics/Optoelectronics.
Health Sciences (duration 4 years or more)
MBBS (Medicine), BDS (Dental), B.Pharm, B.V.Sc., B.P.Th., B.O.Th., B.ASLP, Pharma D.
Required Entrance Examinations
Candidates must hold valid qualifying scores at the time of PhD admission
Category E (Health Sciences)
Must have qualified one of the following:
- INI_CET, NEET PG, NEET MDS, JIPMER, PGI Chandigarh, AFMC-Pune, DNB Part I
- AIIPMR (for MBBS/BDS) or GPAT / All India selection exam for B.Pharm
- All India level PG entrance exams (e.g. AIIPMR for M.V.Sc., M.P.Th., M.O.Th. & M.ASLP)
- GATE examination for applicable health science backgrounds.
Categories C & D
Must fulfil one of the following:
- Valid GATE score
- CEED / UCEED score
- CSIR / UGC / DBT JRF qualify status
- ICMR JRF qualify status
- Any other fellowship providing scholarship for five years.
